Lisa Barnes shares her story of survival and why she is proud to support awareness

Seven years ago my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. I clearly remember the phone call from my dad telling me that the tumor was malignant. After calmly telling me the diagnosis, I simply handed the phone to my husband and walked outside. Words failed me, and I cried. At the time, we lived over 6,000 miles away, and the feeling of helplessness was overwhelming. I worried about my mom, I worried about myself, and I prayed like I never had before.
Fortunately, she beat breast cancer and I am proud to say that my mother is a survivor. I love that when I call her every morning she still asks “Lisa, did you have breakfast?” Used to drive me nuts, but now I realize it’s the little things that are important.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. For those women and men who have been diagnosed, have survived, or have journeyed with a family member or friend through their diagnosis – you know that every day is a day of awareness. That is why I am so proud that our San Francisco Bay Area Team at Plum District is partnering up with Breast Cancer Connections to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
For the entire month of October, the Plum District Bay Area team will donate 2% of all deals purchased on www.plumdistrict.com to the Bay Area branch of Breast Cancer Connections.
Please show your support by passing on the information, and/or sharing a Plum District Deal with your friends and family.
