Master Chef and mom of four, Toni Wiliard-Young, understands the importance of good nutrition. Over the past 20 years, the South African-born culinary expert has gained great recognition for her culinary creations, farm-to-table practices, and her children’s cooking classes on healthy eating. Chef Toni has also catered to politicians, the South African Embassy, private dinners for Columbia University almuni, and countless others. And in 2008, she opened Antoinette’s — a restaurant in Harlem that provides guests with the best seasonal produce, antibiotic- and hormone-free meats, and fresh-caught fish.
In addition to cooking for others, Chef Toni has shared her knowledge and expertise with several NYC schools as a cooking specialist, and started her very own cooking school, Chef Toni’s Cooking Adventures (CTCA). At CTCA, their primary goal is to teach children (ages 2-16) where food comes from. Students learn the fundamentals of farm-to-table cooking, healthy food choices, smart shopping skills, culinary techniques, and basic manners and etiquette. Along the way, they’ll socialize with others in the kitchen, learn about task-completion, and work toward becoming a top ‘Junior Chef.’
Today, Chef Toni is here with a sneak peek at a recipe for CTCA’s upcoming, famous Pre-Memorial Cook & Play Adventure (Saturday, May 25th). Students will prepare the mix for the berry-packed cookies below, and take it home in a jar to bake with the family!
RED, WHITE, & BLUE BERRIES COOKIES
(Makes about 36 cookies)
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup dried chopped cherries
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1 1/2 sticks (12 tablespoons) unsalted butter, softened
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Place all ingredients in a large bowl and mix with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2-3 minutes. Scoop dough evenly onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake the cookies for 12-14 minutes.
Let cool completely, and ENJOY!
Can’t join them for Memorial Day festivities? Check out their post-Memorial Day Cook & Play Camp (May 27th), Father’s Day Cook & Play (June 16th), and fun, activity-filled summer camps!

Award-winning storybooks -- starring your child -- that use imaginative characters to spell out their name
May 2nd, 2013 | 3:00 AM
Maia and Allan Haag once received a personalized storybook for their son. They fell in love with the concept, but felt the story and images could be more customized to their child. Inspired to take personalized storybooks to the next level, the parents brainstormed characters and storylines — and were on a roll.
Their goal was to produce an educational book that would teach young kids how to recognize letters and spell their own name. Maia developed a business plan and fine-tuned the stories, and Allan — with a background in graphic design — identified a top illustrator. In 2000, I See Me! was born.
In the past thirteen years, Maia and Allan have formed an entire team dedicated to producing imaginative, personalized storybooks that celebrate each child. I See Me! now has a full line of books for every occasion — including holidays, birthdays, and more. Bestsellers include My Very Own Name, My Very Own Fairy Tale, and My Very Happy Birthday, which have become popular among celebrity parents like Jessica Alba, Brooke Shields, and Courtney Cox. All books come wrapped in a box (perfect for gift-giving!) and will be treasured by kids for years to come.
Today, we’re offering an exclusive 20% off your first order at I See Me! CLICK HERE to shop, and use coupon code PLUMDIS at checkout.

As a single mom working endless hours, Kathryn Tucker feared she wasn’t doing enough for her kids — and herself. At the root, her desires were simple: to be a better parent and to improve her social life. For her family, she wanted less — but better — information; for herself, she wanted a tighter connection with her community and friends.
With those concerns in mind, Kathryn started building a company that would help herself and parents with similar needs. After many long nights, RedRover was born.
RedRover is a website and mobile app that helps parents find the best kids’ activities in town and share them with friends. You can select activity dates, times, and specific invitees — plus, you can track the plan as it comes together. Each activity listing comes with relevant suggestions for nearby places to eat, play, and shop — all to create a memorable and rewarding day.
Join RedRover to see what’s happening in your neighborhood – and, when you sign up today, you’ll also be entered to win an iPad mini! If you share RedRover with a friend (using the ‘share’ button at sign up), you’ll be entered twice. Click here to join now, and cheers to a future of fun days with your family.

Ella’s Kitchen – which now holds several awards – takes 100% organic, simple ingredients and packages them in a way that connects with babies and kids (ages 4 months to 4 years). Everything from the bright colors, easy-to-grab pouches, and product names attract little ones and help them develop healthy eating habits from the start.
