A Workaround for Undeliverable Emails
It still looks like some of you are experiencing problems with referral emails not being delivered to your friends. While we are continuing to work with Internet Service Providers to get these emails delivered, we have a workaround for you in the meantime.
We have discontinued sending referral emails from our mail server (which in some cases is being blocked). Instead, we have enabled a way for you to put your unique referral links directly into your own emails, which should not be blocked.
Here’s what to do:
1. Return to the Target deal page:
http://www.plumdistrict.com/moms/discount/everywhere/home-and-garden-deals/target-plum-reward-20-target-giftcard-mar2011-everywhere
2. Click “Get It” and re-confirm your mailing address in Step 1.
3. This time on Step 2, your unique referral link appears in the box labeled “For Copying and Pasting.” Copy your unique referral URL (and the explanatory text, if you want).
4. Create an email in your personal email service/program and paste the URL (and the other text if you copied that too). Now you can invite your friends directly through your unique link without having to rely on our mail servers to get stuff delivered.

Thats for future referrals however how does that solve the referrals already done…..
I have 4 friend’s who have already signed up this morning …. 1 went through just fine and the other 3 are in a status of ( pending confirmation ) …. Yet they all said they confirmed through their e-mail already …. so why is it still stating pending e-mail confirmation when it has already been done ???

My referrals are having a separate issue. The ones that are pending in my account have not received their confirmation emails yet!

For referrals that you have already done, you can go through our checkout again, copy/paste the step 2 text into an email and re-send to your friends. Your email will get delivered.

Angela, you are correct, that is a separate issue. We’re still working with SendGrid to get emails delivered to Yahoo!. Our latest update is that the emails are getting delivered…but slowly. Oy! Sorry.

I can not go through checkout again as the Deal Is Closed not allowing me to copy/paste the step 2 text into an email and re-send to my friends for my email to get delivered ;-(

However, if your waiting for friends to confirm, the confirmations window is still until midnight tonight, so you’re not out of luck yet.

I am waiting on one more referral. They signed up and registered at 5:00 today, they have an account, but they have yet to receive the “Confirm Your Email Address” email with the verification link… PLEASE, i need to know that either a) the email is coming, just very slowly; or b) there’s another way to confirm them; or c) i need to find another person.

By the way..for those of you still waiting on confirmations….the deal is closed. HOWEVER, the window for confirmations to happen is still midnight. So, there is still hope.

Do y’all have any control over this?? There’s got to be some way to verify that these people signed up with our referral links… is it so slow just because of the increased traffic on your site?

Maddison, on the getting confirmation and referral emails delivered, we have no control over it. We send the emails from our mail server and the receiving mailserver (e.g. Yahoo! Mail) has to accept and deliver them.
Because our volume of emails was SO high today, Yahoo! Mail, in particular, decided to hold them and not deliver them to users…just in case we were trying to spam people.
Of course we are not, but Yahoo! can not tell the difference. Our email server provider, SendGrid, has been trying to work with Yahoo! to get them delivered. So rest assured, there are many frustrated Plum District folk trying to do the right thing for you, but it’s out of our hands.

Okay, that all makes sense. The email I have waiting is through a company server, which normally doesn’t have any issues, and I don’t think it could be sent to spam because they received all of the other emails earlier today.
I am noticing that I am 3 hours ahead of you in EST, will I have until midnight CST to get my confirmation in? Or will it end at midnight in whatever timezone I’m in?

Sorry, I was mistaken. I found the info. Says we have until midnight PST. That gives me a little time, but I really hope the confirmation email sends. I’ve worked so hard for this!! Thanks for your help.

When you finally get around to fixing the problem it’s sold out… scam
bunch of BS and I will never try to get any referals for this company because of the crap you pulled.
I sent out my referal emails at 11:30 this morning, and NOTHING and now it’s sold out? how?? when so many people had problems!

I referred 10-15 friends using my Target deal referral link. 11 joined, but most of them NEVER received confirmation emails. And now your website says the deal is closed. ??????
I did what I needed to do on my end to receive the $20 Target gift card. I referred MANY MORE than the four people required to receive this.

What a complete and utter waste of time. I can’t believe I promoted Plum District.
It’s downright lousy! Plum District should have either:
1- Extended the deal to compensate for delayed website/email issues and incapacity to handle the volume!!!
3- or AT LEAST posted “limited quantity available” for the deal so we had realistic expectations
Extremely disappointed. I will NOT be promoting Plum District.

I am in the same boat – I have several referrals that are pending confirmation and I know for a fact that at least one of them never received the confirmation email. This seems greatly unfair when we did what was needed on our part, but it was a server issue of some sort.

Micki – where’d you go? time is running out…what are we supposed to do? I’m not angry, and i’m not giving up. There’s got to be someway, SOMEHOW to get these verification emails sent out.
If all I am waiting on is a confirmation email, then that means I did my job and brought you customers….so it’s not fair that I don’t get my “compensation” for it, but yet you still get your customer. Just a thought.

I have had all 4 of my friends sign up and confirm the e-mail that was sent and it told me I was complete and would be recieving my gift card but to watch for the e-mail with special instructions that would be coming soon. That was last night around 6 p.m. but I have still yet to recieve that e-mail. I just wanted to make sure that if I don’t recieve the e-mail that I will still recieve my gift card, or if you could resend the e-mail to me? Thanks

I agree it was SUCH A WASTE OF TIME to promote plum district! I can’t believe I wasted my time on this. WHAT A SCAM.
When I checked the site last night it said I had until midnight PST on March 11, 2011….I have four friends confirmed but am suspecting that all of it was still a waste.

Just wanted to post on here that everything seemed to finally work out for me and I had refered 6 friends over all signed up but only 5 confirmed the e-mail that was sent to them. The First 4 to complete this are now showing up as completed and it says I will recieve my gift card soon! Soooo gald everything worked out well and I can’t wait to get my gift card….I think the trouble people were having was making sure there friends clicked on the right link and then that there friends opened up the confirmation e-mail that was sent to them after signing up and clicking on the link in them. I think some may have had a delay in getting the confirmation e-mail. I know this because after I signed up I never recieved the confirmation e-mail. Then like 8 hours later I finally did, so I wonder too if that is what happened with some people accounts that there friends signed up in time but didn’t recieve the comfirmation e-mail until after it had closed so maybe they will still honor any that were signed up before closing but confirmed in the e-mail after closing???? Just a thought!
